This is my thought process today:

As you might have seen, (if I'm in your Google+ circles) I'm having a Gandhi kind of day. So, since I felt like blogging, and I needed some place to write my crazily cheesy quotes, I decided to drown you guys in inspirational (kind of) messages.

Sometimes, when we think of beautiful, we picture barbies, and cover girl makeup, designer jeans and pop stars. If always think like that, beauty will be a foreign concept. That kind of beauty is unattainable. But all of us can be beautiful. We already are. We think beautiful thoughts. We say beautiful things. We help other beautiful people. We live a beautiful life.

The human spirit and will is one thing that is constantly changing for better or worse, and if we stop that process, and force each other to be the noraml, to stay inside the box, the world will stay in one place, and never improve.

If we give up, what's left in the world? If we give up, we'll all stay where we are. Cancer won't ever end. Wars will never stop. If we give up, we aren't going to change anything. But if we don't, whatever we do will be better than that.

Life can change. Life can be crazy. But so can we. And we will, and we do, and we have. So live your life, change with your life, and be CrAzY with your life.

Those little things in life, those things that are never gone, like a little sister, or homework, or housework, or anything else. Those are the things we remember. Those are the things we will look back at, and think about. So remember them, savor them, and treasure them.

OK, so I just remembered an article my mom read to me a while ago, and thought it would make an awesome blog post. It was called "Death of pretty." If you're thinking, what?, you're like me. I was caught. Basically what it was about was how over the years, pretty has died. Still like what? Think about it. Pretty means: pleasing or attractive to the eye, as by delicacy or gracefulness: a pretty face. When's the last time you thought someone that people said "looked good" was delicate or graceful? But we still definitely think of people as attractive. So what did we replace it with? The answer the writer gave was hot. Hot is not graceful. It's almost the opposite. It's rebellious, and it usually means you're strong, independent and feisty, for lack of a better word. Is that at all delicate or graceful? But this is the part where I disagree with the article. Not all of pretty is gone. Take Taylor Swift. Sure, she's not a perfect, sweet lady, but is she a rebel? I think that we have changed pretty. I think we have made it work for us, even if it's not entirely for the better. What about you?

Back to school (part 2)

On tuesday we started school. And I have something to say: I have officially decided that my teacher is the best in the world. Her name is Mrs. Billings. She is super hands on, and tries not to use textbooks. Just that makes most people fall in love. But she's also really funny, and helps us with everything, instead of teasing us. (and I have had a teacher that's done that. not fun.) I have a ton of great friends and I am so excited for the rest of this year!

Newspaper nails

I have an awesome step-cousin, H, who once showed me how to "newspaper" my nails. Look at this tutorial: How to newspaper your nails
I pretty much did just that, and I painted them the same color as in the picture. Mine, of course, are a whole lot shabbier, but I thought I would try something new for school. Maybe I'll try again soon! These are easy and a ton of fun! You should try them.

Back to School!

Ahhhh! In 30 minutes, I'll be at school again, for my last year of elementary school! I'm so excited, but there's not that much to say. I can cover it in 3 words: Back to school. And if I wanted to, I could add a fourth: Eeeeek!

Newish toms

I found this wonderful blog, Musings of an Adventurer, and immediately fell in love. The link should take you to the blog. The third post on the page, upcycled toms, is where I got my inspiration for this next project.

I actually did this a while ago, maybe two or three weeks ago, just after I found the blog. If you haven't gone to the link and looked at the third post, you should, or none of this will make any sense. The post was about putting fabric over toms with holes on them. But I wanted to be able to wear mine more often, so, I decided to do mine all in one color. I wanted to completely cover the shoe. I have two pairs of fake toms, one of which I really didn't like. Here's a picture of what I wanted the design of the new ones to look like:

Of course, I was using different fabric but that's the basic design. Mine looked like this:

I didn't really like them, so I decided to try it. I kind of followed the tutorial on the blog, but I pretty much just winged it. Here's one next to the undone one:

So what do YOU think: Are they cute? Did I succeed?

We spent the night with my grandma yesterday, because my parents were on a DATE! Yay! Ooooooh, we painted our nails today to get ready for school! Speaking of which, I have homework to do! I guess I better wrap up. See ya!
